The greatest number of ski slopes is found in the route which includes Monte Elmo, Orto del Toro and Croda Rossa. The slopes in this area have various levels of difficulty, so as to allow both beginners and professionals to practice this beautiful sport. More ski slopes for evolving skiers include the routes Croda Rossa – Sesto – Moso, Comelico, Dobbiaco, Baranci – San Candido and Waldheim. Alta Pusteria, however, also offers interesting opportunities for novice skiers: at the start of the lifts, in fact, there are numerous school camps, useful for those who want to learn to ski and fun for the little ones. The expert skiers, on the other hand, they will be able to experience the thrill of speed on 6 black runs including the Holzriese, known for being the steepest run in South Tyrol.

In Alta Pusteria there are also gods snowboard parks for those who want to practice freestyle in winter. In particular, at the Monte Elmo ski resort, there is one snowpark divided into two sectors: a KIDS learn Park, suitable for anyone, and an EASY / MEDIUM park, for more expert snowboarders. Other snow parks can be found in Dobbiaco at the Rienza ski resort and in Valle di Braies. Taking advantage of the presence of these snow parks will be the perfect opportunity to practice an exciting sport at an altitude of 2200 metres.

There are 20 impianti di risalita to transport skiers to sports resorts at an altitude between 1130 and 2200 meters. Modern, fast, and uncrowded lifts help skiers reach even the highest trails, such as the Free Fall Ride and 3 Zinnen Mountain Brunch. The ski season coincides with the opening of the lifts, ie from mid-November to mid-April.

After an intense skiing activity, there is nothing better than a stop in a picturesque refuge surrounded by nature. Around Monte Elmo it is possible to find numerous refuges where you can rest and indulge in numerous leisure activities.

In San Candido, for example, there is one of the most evocative refuges in Europe, namely the Gigante Baranci refuge, equipped with a playground for children, a large panoramic terrace and a restaurant well stocked with drinks, food and typical cuisine.

Another characteristic place to visit in your "after ski" is the Gröberhütte hut in Versciaco, built with dedication and passion by the owner himself. Two other places worth mentioning are the Pollaio di Sesto refuge and the Prati di Croda Rossa di Sesto refuge, perfect for relaxing, eating something with friends or letting the children play.
