Damüls Mellau-Faschina ski resorts
The Damüls Mellau area offers ski lovers the best of slopes, with snow reaching 9 m. per year, establishing itself in 2007 as the snowiest village in the world. The slopes extend between 710 m. and 2050 m. high for about 110 km around the Mittagspitze mountain, to which we must add just over 17 km of ski itineraries, among which we cannot fail to mention the Skiroute Wälde in Damüls. There are blue, red and black slopes, suitable for beginners and more expert skiers and, thanks to the artificial snow guaranteed on approximately 70% of the slopes thanks to the 120 snow cannons, it is possible to ski in the Damüls Mellau area practically from December until month of April.
Among the most difficult slopes in this ski area, the Suttis slope in Mellau and the Sunneg slope in Damüls stand out, without forgetting the Slalom slope which allows skiers to also have a registration video of their performances on the snow.
Three of the most beautiful descents in Damüls Mellau deserve a mention: the Hohe Watch, Hochblanken and Herzegg descents in Damüls and the Wildgunten descent in Mellau. Don't miss your ski tunnels, one of which is 120 m long. which, from the mountain station of the Hohe Watch chairlift, leads to Mellauer Roβstelle: the other runs along the Wälde ski route at the 6-seater chairlift in Sunnegg. Those who want to treat themselves to an exciting night skiing, all they have to do is reach the Guggernülli ski lift, in the Faschina area, from which a splendid descent under the stars starts.
In order to reach the slopes of the Damüls Mellau area, but also those of Faschina, 31 efficient and modern ski lifts are available including the Gipfelbahn, the 8-seater cable car that connects the towns of Damüls and Mellau, then going up to the and its own ski area.
The Mallaubahn, on the other hand, is a 10-seater cable car, complete with a perching system, which takes you from Mellau to the Rossstelle, from which the same number of systems located in the shadow of the Damülser Mittagspitze, 2095 m high, depart. high, part of the Bregenz Prealps. There is also no shortage of ski lifts, drag lifts and 2 and 6 seater chairlifts.
In Damüls Mellau even those who do not know how to ski can learn the first rudiments of this beautiful snow sport, at the various ski schools present, even dedicated to the little ones: in this regard, in the ski area there is no shortage of child-friendly areas, such as for example the Kinderland (complete with rides and conveyor belts suitable for the little ones), Easy Cheesy (amusement park located near the Rossstelle) and the nursery at the top station of the Mellaubahn cable car, which allows parents to ski in all calm.
For those who want to have fun on skis or snowboards, there is an unmissable stop represented by snowpark by Damüls Mellau: it is among the most important and largest snow parks in the Voralberg and includes the All Mountain Line, complete with a ride between the Uga mountain station and the Walisgaden valley station. There is no shortage of the Ragoz Pro Line for passionate kicker jumpers, the kids snowpark and a pleasant relaxation area.
Not just skiing in Damüls Mellau
In the Damüls Mellau area you can ski but not only: there are many activities that can be done on the snow, starting with cross-country skiing, to which approximately 33 km of trails are dedicated, reaching up to 1700 m. in height. The high altitude route on the Verfen Alp is spectacular, like the Winterhöhenwanderweg. Equally beautiful are the cross-country skiing routes in Fuka, the 5 km Stoffel circular track and the Unterdamüls Nordic track which in 6 km leads to the Unterdamüls Alp.
At least 66 km are dedicated to alpine skiing, while those who love more relaxing but no less exciting experiences can treat themselves to a ride aboard a horse-drawn sleigh. There is no self-respecting snow holiday without having tried sledding at least once: in Damüls Mellau there is the natural Dosegg slope which is illuminated twice a week, to allow adults and children alike to whiz around on the sled in a 'really lovely atmosphere.
The ski schools in Damüls Mellau often organize guided excursions in the snow, for example to the Kanisfluh monote, a night tour to Hirschberg; in Fontanelle and Faschina the romantic Schmuseweg walk and the illuminated Säge path which starts from the picturesque Seewaldsee lake are unmissable.
