A ski resort nestled in the mountains of the municipality of Cutigliano , in the Pistoia mountains, about a 15-minute drive from Abetone (Tuscany's main ski area), Doganaccia is a very unique area for two reasons: first, it is entirely exposed to the sun, resulting in a shorter than usual ski season (although snow cannons are being installed to ensure good snow conditions until Easter); second, its slopes are perfectly suited to beginners. The area is, in fact, a destination for thousands of young Tuscan skiers who flock to its slopes to learn the basics.
There are two ways to get to Doganaccia: the first is by car, going up a steep road that climbs up the mountain, the second, decidedly more spectacular, is by taking the cable car that leaves just outside the town of Cutigliano. This solution costs slightly more, but is especially ideal for those arriving by car, who can thus do without thinking about parking once they arrive on the ski slopes. At the arrival of the cable car there is a restaurant and the ski school, and you can begin your descent towards the departure point of the Campo Scuola and Faggio di Maria ski lifts.
The Doganaccia district counts 10km of ski slopes, served by 5 lifts: a cable car that takes you to the tip of the Croce Arcana, from which you can observe a stupendous panorama of the entire Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and from which a beautiful slope, three ski lifts and a chair lift start.
The runs are mainly blue, i.e. easy, but there are also red runs starting from the Croce Arcana and a black run (with its variant) served by the Faggio di Maria ski lift.
At the training camp there is a new snow tubing slope , where you can have fun sliding down at high speed on rubber tubes: you will have the possibility of coming back up using convenient conveyor belts.
It's also worth noting that Doganaccia also has two cross-country ski trails . The first, Anello Croce Arcana, has a circumference of 3 km, while the second, Anello Lazzi, is significantly longer, measuring 7 km. This gives cross-country skiers the opportunity to enjoy this sunny area throughout the winter season.

Finally, we remind you that the Doganaccia ski area has the undeniable advantage of being very affordable , so for beginners it may be a better choice even than the much more renowned Abetone.
