Kitzbühel is a famous Austrian ski resort located in the heart of Tyrol. Its fame is due to the Ski World Cup, as it is precisely here that the most famous stage of the event is held: you go down the Streif slope, one of the most legendary in the Alps. The slope is over 3 kilometers long and skiers descend from the summit to the heart of the village, where there are grandstands that host up to 50 people every year, reaching speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour along truly incredible slopes. Winning the World Cup race in Kitzbuehel can also change an athlete's life, giving him fame and prestige for life.

But Kitzbühel is not only Streif and the World Cup: the historic center of the town is really very nice to visit and to walk around: there are numerous shops and opportunities for shopping, as well as bars, restaurants and night clubs, there it is even a casino, as well as hotels of all levels, of course.

In Kitzbuehel there are also numerous opportunities for snowboarders to have fun: there are in fact two snowpark named kitzbueheler Horn and Kitz-Soth Hanglalm, where two half pipes can be found.

Skiing in Kitzbühel means having over 160km of slopes available, divided into 13 black, 26 red and 21 blue. There are more than 60 ski lifts in the area, with a carrying capacity of over 75 people per hour. To explore the area, the best thing to do is to take the Ski Safari Route, a route that crosses the villages of Aschau, Aurach, Jochberg, Kitzbühel, Kirchberg, Pass Thurn and Mittersill through 35 kilometers of slopes. There are special signs with the symbol of an elephant to give visibility to the route, which was born in the 2004-2005 winter season and three years later was equipped with artificial snow, to be usable throughout the season even in poor snow conditions.

Speaking of poor snow, Kitzbühel's main problem is the altitude. The village is only 800 meters above sea level, and this carries the great risk that the snow will start to leave as early as March. Artificial snow therefore becomes a central point in the economy of the area, and is ensured by 780 cannons which are always active and are able to cover 84km of slopes.
