Il Pila ski area is one of the busiest in the Valle d'Aosta, just 17km from the regional capital offers top quality ski slopes immersed in a natural amphitheater dominated by the highest peaks of the Alps such as the Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, the Grand Combin and Monte Rosa.
The altitude above 1800 meters makes this ski area one of the snowiest in the Alps with always fresh and abundant snow from the first months of winter. The high mountain temperatures mean that the artificial snow systems can come into action to prepare or maintain the bottom of the ski slopes.
The whole area is connected "skis on", most of the refuges and some hotels can be reached without having to take off your skis, a quick and convenient way to fully enjoy your day on skis.
Pila offers 26 slopes (for a total of 70 km), divided into easy (such as the Le Chatelaine slope, 2107 meters), medium (for example Chamolè, 2279) and difficult; the latter are also the best known: Resselin, Bellevue and the splendid Tza Creuisa, 1658 meters long. All the tracks are connected by 12 rapid and ultra-modern lifts, which can transport 19.700 people in just one hour.

Snowpark Pila
One of the major attractions of the Pila station is Areaeffe, the big one snowpark located at over 2200 meters above sea level, active since 2007. Lo Snowpark Areaeffe it extends for 700 meters, and is a popular destination for snowboarders and skiers, thanks to the variety of lines it allows access to both experts and beginners: there is the slopestyle area, with many kickers all different in length and technical characteristics , while among the main steel structures we find a flat 6-metre box, two butterboxes and a dyno box; in addition, five new rails have recently been opened. Moving around the snowpark area is facilitated by the four-seater Grimod chairlift; moreover, with the new 5 km long Aosta-Pila cableway, the Areaeffe is connected directly to the city of Aosta, which greatly facilitates access for tourists.
Alternative activities on the snow
Among the other activities practiced in Pila, there are undoubtedly the descents with the sledding (excellent pastime for children and adults), the ice skating with the track in the village open every day walks with snowshoes in the snowy forests of fir and larch, lo Dog sledding in the dedicated center of the musher from Valle d'Aosta Fabrizio Lovati.

Fun Park, the playground in the snow
In Pila there is also a playground where young and old they can have fun in the snow with bobsleds, dinghies or sledges. The whole area offers various descents served by a comfortable treadmill which allows easy ascent of the slope. Access to the park costs €5 and anyone who wants can rent the equipment directly on site (sleds, bobsleds, rafts).
