The ski resort of San Domenico is located in Piedmont in the alpine village of Varzo, its ski area is located in Alpe Ciamporino and offers a skiable domain of 35km of ski slopes at an altitude between 1400m and 2550m.
The area in addition to 35 km of slopes ski offers modern infrastructure for snowboarding and freestyle, open spaces and paths for lovers of walks in nature, paths for ski mountaineering and snowshoeing. All accompanied by a quality accommodation offer.
The medium-high altitude, the exposure of the slopes and the frequency of rainfall allow a certain opening from the first days of December with quality snow until the end of the season, here the winter offers meters of snow especially at the highest altitudes where the snow conditions allow the season to continue until the month of May when in other districts the lifts have been closed for weeks.
Alpe Ciamporino offers slopes for all tastes, there are 3 blue slopes suitable for less expert skiers looking for easy tracks where they can ski in complete tranquillity, for beginners there is also a nursery slope where the first steps on the snow, perhaps accompanied by the professionalism of the ski instructors of the San Domenico school.
More difficult slopes are instead found above all in the upper part of the district, here the more expert skiers can have fun on demanding slopes and technical tracks where there is also space for ski clubs and professional athletes who go up to high altitudes to train.
Among the most important slopes it is worth mentioning "La Sella", "Diei" and the variants "Bondolero 1, 2 and 3" with technical walls that reach 55% slopes, offering rapid direction fields, compressions and decompressions able to test and entertain even the most experienced skiers.
Over the years this ski area has been able to renew its ski offer with modern facilities and new ski slopes, among these the Casa Rossa trail – San Domenico which winds along a spectacular route through the enchanted woods that descend from Alpe Ciamporino to the town of San Domenico.

Le abundant snowfall not only benefit skiing but also offer the possibility of giving space to a sport that makes abundant snow a necessity, it is snowboarding which here in San Domenico finds its maximum expression in the SandoPark, is managed by young riders who build the structures and follow the area throughout the winter season by hosting events and tests that attract snowboarders from all over northern Italy and beyond.
Riders also find space on the slopes of fresh snow which is never lacking here in full season, while those who love the tranquility of nature can follow the numerous excursion itineraries for ski mountaineering. Snowshoe lovers can find various routes in San Domenico that lead up to high altitudes with the possibility of reaching Alpe Ciamporino or descending towards Ponte Campo, a splendid valley that the snow brings out in all its splendour.
For the cross country instead, a 5km loop is available in the woods of the "La Sotta" area.
