The ski resort of Schia Monte Caio is located in Emilia Romagna, in the province of Parma, in the heart ofTuscan-Emilian Apennines. The favorable position means that Schia is also chosen by Tuscan (especially from the North) and Ligurian skiers. The locality of Schia lies at the base of Monte Caio, in the Parma Apennines, and is included within the municipality of Tizzano Val Parma; it can be reached in just under 1 hour from the center of Parma and in just over an hour and a half from the center of Massa.

The Schia district has 4 ski lifts: 2 ski lifts, 1 treadmill and 1 double chair lift. There are 10 downhill slopes for a total of 15km. The offer does not end here as there is even a bottom ring of the length of 2km. The average altitude of the slopes ranges from 1200 to 1500 meters above sea level, and this means that the ski season lasts throughout the winter. In particularly critical conditions the snow cannons come into operation, capable of guaranteeing a artificial snow of quality throughout the season.

Schia is heaven for beginners and intermediate skiers, as the ski area is predominantly dedicated to them. But there is no one who gets bored, because in addition to the cross-country ski track we have already talked about, there is also a baby park, capable of entertaining children and entertaining parents, and a frequented snow park, called with a nice play on words ParKaio, within which the numerous freestyle enthusiasts will find bread for their teeth thanks to jumps, rails and boxes. The snow park is equipped with a modern lighting system, and this makes it usable even at night.

The Schia Monte Caio ski area winds its way up two sidesconnected by simple fittings. The side facing east, dominated by Monte Caio and whose highest peak is Costa Grande, has two lifts that all serve red runs (the main ones and the variants). From the west side, however, it will be possible to reach Corno di Caneto, at an altitude of 1430m. slm, thanks to the two-seater chairlift of Pian Delle Guide, which serves two black runs, one red and one blue. Downstream, a practical ski school will perfectly train all those who are trying their hand at the discipline and learning to ski for the first time.
