Skiing in Zell Am See-Kaprun
There are three ski areas reachable from Zell Am See-Kaprun, which make the entire Zell Am See region one of the best areas in Austria for practicing winter sports. There Ski Alpin Card allows tourists, with just one ski pass, to experience the best of the slopes and obviously also use the ski lifts (including ski buses for travel) present in the 3 areas, namely that of Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm Luogang Fieberbrunn, Kitzsteinhorn and the Schmittenhöhe area.
The latter delivers well 77 km of slopes served by 28 efficient systems of ski lifts, with the presence of welcoming refuges embellished with as many panoramic terraces: in the Schmittenhöhe ski area you can also ski at night, on the runway n.6 until 21pm every Tuesday and Thursday.
This area is the one favored by families on holiday in Zell Am See-Kaprun, given the presence of Schmidolin, the dragon who is the mascot of the area and who accompanies the little ones on the ski slopes, taking them by the hand on the first gentle descents and telling them the smallest secrets about skiing.

From Zall Am See-Kaprun you can also reach the slopes of Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel ski area, extended for 61 km and served by 21 modern facilities of lifts: among these there are 6 cable cars which, in about 50 minutes, leave from the heart of the village of Kaprun to reach the ski area at 3029 m. high, in the shadow of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier which towers over the peaks of the Tauern Alps. Of the 6 cable cars, the most modern is the 3k K-Onnection with automatic 3-cable release.
The Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel area has guaranteed snow in winter and therefore perfect conditions for skiing: the slopes stand out Eagle Line, very adrenaline-filled thanks to various obstacles, jumps and banked curves, but also the Maisi Lini on the Maiskogel, suitable for children. In the same area as Maiskogel is the Maisi Flitzer, a sort of Alpine roller coaster where you speed along a track at 40 km per hour between spins and sharp curves at 11 m. height from the ground.
The area also hosts the unmissable Ice arena of the Kitzsteinhorn, dedicated to fun on skis but also on snowboards, without forgetting the presence of a panoramic snack bar.
In the ski areas there is obviously no shortage of ski schools e snowboard, such as Hartweger and Ski Dome Oberschneider, which offer free lessons every Monday during the Freeride Monday.

In Zell Am See-Kaprun you can practice cross country on 107 km of paths, some of which lead to the foot of Kaprun Castle, the medieval fortress from the XNUMXth century.
There is no shortage of slopes for it sledding but also the opportunity to organize ice skating that is formed on Lake Zell or hiking with the snowshoeing among the surrounding woods weighed down by blankets of snow.
Those who reach the Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel area but do not wish to ski or freeride will be able to reach the two viewing platforms of the place: the Top of Salzburg with a view of the Hohe Tauern National Park below and the lower National Park Gallery, reachable after passing through an enchanting 360 m long tunnel, from which you also arrive at the Cinema 3000 where films related to the high mountains are shown.
