La Zillertal Arena is a ski area located in Austria, in the Tyrol region. It is made up of 143 kilometers of slopes, divided equally between 43 kilometers of blue (for beginners), 89 kilometers of red (for intermediate skiers) and 11 kilometers of black (for expert skiers). They are served by 49 lifts including a cable car, 10 gondola lifts, 22 chair lifts, 14 ski lifts and 2 cableways. The entire district expands vertically for a good 1920 metres, from a valley altitude of 580 meters up to the 2500 meters of altitude of the highest point, the summit of the Ubergangsjoch.
The district is made up of the towns of Zell, Gerlos, Koenigsleiten/Wald and Krimml, and is the largest in the Zillertal (Ziller Valley). The slopes in the area are suitable for everyone, from easy slopes located in Gerlos and on the Isskogel to intermediate slopes in Zell, to an endless amount of slopes in Koenigsleiten. There are also 4 permanent race courses and 3 SkiMovie courses.
To explore the whole area at high altitude, there is nothing better than setting off for thearena tours, a route through Zell, Gerlos, Koenigsleiten, Hockhrimml and back. You can start it anywhere and it's a great way to see all of the ski area. It takes about 5 hours to complete the tour, skiing at good speed without too many stops, is therefore suitable for a whole day of skiing.
Skiing in the Zillertal Arena means pure fun, not only for the ski slopes but also for the numerous entertainment opportunities: here, in fact, there is a snow park with halfpipe, a downhill slope with maximum speed measurement, a track with time trial, and also the night skiing. Exclusive to the area is the so-called White Carpet: A few times a week one of the slopes in Zell is groomed by the snowcat in the middle of the day, so that even bed-crawlers have the opportunity to ski on freshly treated snow.
The longest descent of the Zillertal Arena is located in Gerlos, and is the combination of slopes number 1,2, 4 and 9: the total length is XNUMX kilometres. The hardest track instead it is still in Gerlos and is number 36, it has a length of 2 kilometers and a height difference of 400 meters. In Zell, however, another black slope has been opened to return to the village, which allows you to ski from the Ubergangsjoch at an altitude of 2500 meters up to the valley at an altitude of 580 metres.
