Already known since the early 900s, the ski area of Roccaraso and Rivisondoli it is the best known and best equipped in the Apennines. Located at 1250 m above sea level, it rises on the Major Plateaus, between the two large protected areas of the National Parks: that ofAbruzzo and that of Majella.
The well-equipped tourist resort offers a ski area (Aremogna-Pizzalto-Montepratello) with 36 ultra-modern lifts of various types and two cable cars, about 110 kilometers of perfectly snow-covered slopes and assisted by the largest and most modern system of programmed snow. The excellent hotel and commercial equipment, the rich program of events, ensure an active holiday.

Roccaraso-Rivisondoli is an area that knows how to offer many leisure activities. In a naturalistic environment of absolute value characterized by the severe landscape of the major plateaus, where the numerous rounded peaks alternate with valley basins, it is an ideal place for practicing winter sports. In the flatter areas, at various altitudes, there are interesting circular trails for practicing it Cross country skiing, here enthusiasts will find cross-country trails with numerous rings, both free and mechanically driven, for over 30 km.
One is available in the locality of Aremogna snowpark and snowtubing, and you can also practice sled-dog or rent snowmobiles and quads. To complete the offer there is a well-equipped covered ice rink in the town of Roccaraso. In addition to the ice rink, we find the covered and heated swimming pool, equipped with slides, hydromassage and water games of various types, the bowling alley, the cinema, arcades, bars, restaurants and clubs of all kinds, as well as a large number of shops and luxurious boutiques.

Some facilities and some short slopes are a short distance from the 1236 meters of the town, but the most interesting area is that of Aremogna-Pizzalto, which rises from 1500 meters of the homonymous plateau to 2140 meters of the Toppe del Tesoro. The latter are connected with another 48 km of slopes served by the lifts of the nearby winter resort of Rivisondoli-Monte Pratello; even on them you can ski with the Alto Sangro ski pass, the same used to ski on the slopes of Pescasseroli and Pescocostanzo.

Rivisondoli

Overlooking the Cinquemiglia plateau from the east, Rivisondoli is the gateway to the important ski area which rises from 1390 meters at the base of the facilities to 2056 meters at the Monte Pratello.
The slopes of Pratello offer all the different levels of difficulty: in fact, they range from the school slope to those approved for national and international competitions. For overnight stays, it is possible to choose from a dozen hotels, mostly three-star ones, located in the center of Rivisondoli. In addition to the leisure and sport facilities in Roccaraso, which is only two kilometers away, it is worth mentioning the traditional and evocative Living Presepe which takes place in the plain of Piè Lucente, at the foot of the village of Rivisondoli, every year on January 5th.
