In the heart of the Abruzzo Apennines, not far from the capital L'Aquila, stands the ski resort Felice Field, a place very popular with Roman skiers who can reach it in less than two hours by car thanks to the A24 motorway. The district rises at the foot of the Velino massif, starts from an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level up to over 2000.
The ski resort of Campo Felice is made up of over 30km of downhill slopes, whose level is quite high: in the face of 6 blue runs there are in fact 8 red runs and 6 black runs, thus making the area suitable even for the most expert skiers. This balance of numbers between blue runs and black runs means that intermediate skiers in Campo Felice really feel they are in their natural habitat. The slopes are served by 12 lifts, and at altitudes above 2000 metres, snow is generally available throughout the season. But even if this is not the case, the more than 17 snow cannons are able to guarantee coverage until the end of April.
The Campo Felice area is made up of two slopes, which can be crossed on skis: you can reach the Rocche plateau on one side, the slope of Campo Felice proper on the other. The area winds around Monte Rotondo, from which there is a beautiful panorama of the Abruzzo mountain ranges.
Campo Felice's offer is not aimed only at skiers, as there is one snow park which will delight snow board lovers, located in the heart of the ski area. Even cross-country skiers will find bread for their teeth, as there are some cross-country rings whose total length is 20km, including the tour of Monte Puzzillo and various excursion itineraries. Finally, young and old will find fun thanks to the snow tubing track, over 90 meters long.
As mentioned, Campo Felice is a paradise for intermediate skiers, but even beginners will have their work cut out, thanks above all to the three ski schools present: in fact, we are talking about the Campo Felice ski school, the Le Aquile ski school and the Le Rocche ski school . All three schools can count on specialized instructors, able both to teach the rudiments of the discipline and to improve the technique if you have already started skiing. A unique feature in medium-small sized areas such as Campo Felice is the presence of a cross-country ski school, active every day, thanks to which you can learn this discipline thanks to the most modern teaching criteria.
