Located in the province of Rieti, the Terminillo group, defined “Rome's mountain” due to its proximity to the capital (less than 100km from the center of Rome), it is the most important of the four mountain ranges of the Reatini mountain range and one of the most important districts of the whole of central Italy and southern Italy since the 30s, when its construction began. Its maximum height is over 2100 meters, and this allows for good snow retention throughout the winter, as well as the possibility of trekking and walking during the cool and breezy summer.
The ski lifts offered by the area are 13, divided between a cable car, 3 chair lifts and 9 ski lifts, which serve a total of about 40km of downhill slopes, located at altitudes between 1500m and 2100m; three of them are approved for international competitions, making the offer wide even for the most demanding skiers. The main area, called precisely Terminillo, is divided into three areas immersed in a spectacular landscape and called Carbonaie, Cardito Sud and Terminilluccio; the latter is the most suitable for expert skiers, in fact it has slopes of greater difficulty and slope than the other two. There is also a minor district, called Leonessa-Campo Stella, which is not connected to the other.
Also developed is the offer relating to the cross country, with 26km of trails of varying difficulty and length, located at altitudes between 1500 and 1600 metres. The slopes are located on the Cinque Confini plateau. There is also one lighted track able to satisfy the cravings of cross-country skiers at night. Also on the plateau there is a sports center equipped with soccer, five-a-side football and tennis fields and an athletics track.
The tourist offer is completed through awide receptivity, in fact, there are several hotels, timeshare properties and apartments for rent, of various categories and prices, to give the skier the maximum choice and maximum comfort. Most of them are located in the Pian Valli area, an area where shops, bars, restaurants, the conference center and a youth hostel are concentrated. An indoor swimming pool is currently under construction, to make the stay pleasant even for those who do not ski, and for those who want to start skiing, a ski school is available, where qualified instructors registered in the AMSI and in the regional register are they will take care of you and will constantly follow you.
