The ski resort of Sella Nevea, located in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the province of Udine, it was born in the 60s in an area of Italy where the opportunities for skiing were practically absent. Developed over the years both in terms of ski slopes and in terms of accommodation, in 2009 it was connected on skis with the Kanin-Bovec area in Slovenia, thus acquiring prestige and popularity among skiers from the North-East.
The village of Sella Nevea is located at 1200 meters above sea level, nestled in a beautiful basin at the foot of the Canin (Kanin in Slovenian). It is one of the snowiest places in the entire Alps, hence the name. In fact, throughout the winter there is excellent snow, thanks to the particular morphological characteristics of the surrounding terrain. The temperature and humidity of the area ensure that the snow that falls remains perfect and powdery, for top-level skiing throughout the season.
Following the extension of the ski area thanks to the connection with the Slovenian side, Sella Nevea-Kanin has 10 lifts which allow you to ski on slopes of different lengths and difficulties. Therefore, Sella Nevea currently includes blue and red slopes, which in any case will be able to satisfy the needs of most ski enthusiasts: beginners will find bread for their teeth thanks to wide and sunny slopes. Likewise intermediate skiers will have to deal with challenging slopes that will put them to the test. Experts, on the other hand, will delight in the black runs and the thrilling slopes of the Slovenian side, above all thanks to the descent that from the highest point of the area, 2292 meters (from which, among other things, one can witness a truly spectacular 360° panorama ) reaches the intermediate stop of the cable car that takes you to the village of Bovec.
Once you take off your skis, the day certainly doesn't end like this in Sella Nevea. In the village there are bars, clubs and restaurants, there are shops and hotels for accommodation of all levels. There are also cross-country trails, to satisfy even skiers who do not like downhill skiing, the possibility of ski mountaineering at night is given and finally many events are organized, including the Sella Nevea Mountain Experience and this year the Italian Youth Championships of alpine skiing.
