In the heart of the Modena Apennines, Mount Cimone rises to 2.165 meters above sea level and is home to the largest ski resort in the Northern Apennines . The area takes its name from the highest mountain in the Northern Apennines: Mount Cimone, home to 50 km of interconnected slopes accessible with a single ski pass. The slopes guarantee fun for all ski and snowboard enthusiasts, from beginners to competitive skiers, and modern facilities allow for rapid ascents. Snow is guaranteed by a snowmaking system that covers 80% of the skiable area and ensures good snow conditions throughout the season.
The municipalities of Sestola, Fanano, Riolunato, and Montecreto, where the ski lifts depart and the hotels are located, are located. The altitude, which reaches 1500 meters, and the mountain's conformation make these towns very similar to Alpine ones in terms of snowfall, allowing for a start to the season in line with the major ski resorts in the Alps.
An accurate renovation plan is leading to an overall improvement of the downhill slopes with many new features, such as slope 19 in the Polle area dedicated to the Olympic champion Giuliano Razzoli, the new tapis roulant positioned at the arrival of the Cimone quad chairlift built to access optimal way to the Baggiolara, the slope with the most pronounced difference in height of the whole area: no less than 650 metres.
At Passo del Lupo the track for rubber dinghies and the two baby park, open to all families both at Lago della Ninfa and at Cimoncino. For snowboarders the areas of Polle, Lago della Ninfa and Pian del Falco are available, also equipped for freestyle on skis; while at Cimoncino there is the Bag Jump to jump safely on a large mattress.
Mount Cimone and its surrounding valleys are nestled in a network of hiking trails that crisscross the woods of the Emilian Apennines, offering tourists and athletes interesting itineraries. Besides snowshoeing, ski mountaineering is also an activity, especially for those who want to climb to the summit with sealskins and descend through the various gullies that descend from the mountain.

Cimone is very well equipped with slopes and artificial snow systems. I really like track no. 17 of the valley because it is complete. The day pass seems expensive to me, the Cimone is a small curtain.
