In the heart of the Modena Apennines, the Monte Cimone soars up to 2.165 meters above sea level and hosts the largest ski resort in the northern Apennines, the area takes its name from the highest mountain in the northern Apennines: the "Cimon" where they develop 50 km of slopes all connected to each other and accessible with a single “skis on” ski pass. The slopes ensure the enjoyment of all ski and snowboard enthusiasts, from the first steps to competition, and the modern lifts allow rapid ascent times. Snow is guaranteed by an artificial snow system which covers 80% of the skiable area and ensures good snow conditions throughout the season.

The reference municipalities are Sestola, Fanano, Riolunato and Montecreto where the ski lifts leave and the hotels are located, the altitude that reaches 1500 meters and the conformation of the mountain make these villages very similar to the Alpine ones in terms of snow, allowing a start to the season in line with the major ski resorts of the Alps.

An accurate renovation plan is leading to an overall improvement of the downhill slopes with many new features, such as slope 19 in the Polle area dedicated to the Olympic champion Giuliano Razzoli, the new tapis roulant positioned at the arrival of the Cimone quad chairlift built to access optimal way to the Baggiolara, the slope with the most pronounced difference in height of the whole area: no less than 650 metres.
At Passo del Lupo the track for rubber dinghies and the two baby park, open to all families both at Lago della Ninfa and at Cimoncino. For snowboarders the areas of Polle, Lago della Ninfa and Pian del Falco are available, also equipped for freestyle on skis; while at Cimoncino there is the Bag Jump to jump safely on a large mattress.

Mount Cimone and its surrounding valleys are set in a network of hiking trails which cross the woods of the Emilian Apennines, offering tourists and sports enthusiasts interesting itineraries. In addition to snowshoes too Ski Touring it is one of the practicable activities, especially for those who want to climb to the summit with seal skins and descend among the various gullies that descend from the mountain.
